Bringing Bourbon Street to Atlassian

Atlassian is known for hosting unforgettable get-togethers, and for this one, we ran with a bold, energetic Mardi Gras theme. Our goal was to bring the essence of Bourbon Street right to their Austin office—lively, colorful, and packed with personality. With Lauren leading the planning for Eclipse Event Co., we pulled together a creative crew of vendors to turn the space into a full-blown Mardi Gras celebration, inside and out.

To set the tone, Kitsch Event Styling absolutely transformed the space. Indoors and out, they worked their magic, stringing vibrant décor from ceilings and balconies and creating a photo-worthy French Quarter vibe. From the lamppost-lit photo booth to themed table centerpieces and rich purple and gold accents, every corner transported guests straight to New Orleans.

Guests were greeted by Artisan Oddities’ live Mardi Gras model, dressed to dazzle and mingling like a true street performer. He set the mood immediately—welcoming, lively, and just a little mysterious—like any good night on Bourbon Street should feel.

The activities were hands-on and undeniably fun. Guests jumped right into decorating their own mini Mardi Gras floats and designing custom masks at the craft tables. The energy was high, and everything flowed seamlessly—from the creative stations to the crowd-favorite costume contest. And yes, winners walked away with umbrellas and led the second line parade in true Mardi Gras fashion.

Music pulsed through the event thanks to Big Wy’s Brass Band, who kicked off their set with a classic second line number that led guests outside for a mini-parade moment. As the sun dipped, guests tossed beads from balconies while the band marched through the crowd. It was pure Mardi Gras magic, right in the heart of Austin.

The food was as much a part of the atmosphere as the décor. Root Cellar served up savory bites that anchored the evening, while Specs made sure the bars stayed festive and flowing—with a signature purple daiquiri that looked as good as it tasted.

For dessert? Christen’s Gourmet Pralines came through with a sweet spread that included king cake and beignets served fresh outside. The smell alone lured guests outdoors, where twinkling lights and festive overhead decor created an irresistible street-party vibe.

Throughout the event, Shelley Elena Photography captured it all—the laughter, the glitter, the parade, the costumes, the candid joy. Thanks to her eye, we’ll be reliving this night for a long time through photos.
